Michael Rabson, Ph.D., J.D.  is General Counsel and Senior Vice President of Maxygen, a start-up biotechnology success story that is now focused on the development of superior versions of existing pharmaceutical products.  Before joining Maxygen, Dr. Rabson was a member of the law firm Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, P.C. from 1996-1999, where he handled the licensing of patents from Cambia Biosystems.   Dr. Rabson was instrumental in refining drafts of the BiOS license (www.bioslicense.net).   An expert in intellectual property, he was a patent examiner at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office before he received his J.D. from Yale Law School.  Prior to that, Dr. Rabson received his Ph.D. in infectious disease epidemiology from Yale University and was a post-doctoral fellow at the National Cancer Institute, National Institutes of Health.
