DArT™ in Medicine

The
application of DArT to the human genome is an interesting frontier. The
technology is currently being improved for use in the mouse genome (Ph.D.
project by Damian Jaccoud). The complexity and
redundancy of the genome may create challenges, but these are far outstripped by
the potential discoveries and human health improvements that may result.
Another major potential application of DArT in improving human health is the identification of pathogens in a wide variety of settings. For example, DArT might be usable to determine the presence of pathogenic intestinal bacteria, leading to more rapid treatment for illnesses of the digestive system.
